THE BEST WAYS TO CARE FOR YOUR EYELASHES

Here is general breakdown of the top best ways for you to care for your eyelash extensions. These steps will not only help your extensions last longer between appointments, but also make sure that there's no damage to your natural lash.

DON'T PICK OR PULL! 

This single act can cause the most damage and can result in poor growth of your natural lash. If your lash extensions are causing discomfort, let your lash artist know immediately! This could be an allergic reaction, as you can develop one at anytime with your course of wearing lash extensions, or improper application of your lash extensions. Lashes should never feel like they are poking you! 

NO OILS

Oils break down the glue bond from your eyelash extension to your natural lash. If the glue bond is weak, you'll lose lashes! With this in mind, choose oil free facial cleansers and lotions. Gel, cream, and pencil eyeliners are a big no no. Only use felt or pen tipped liners!! Be sure to check the ingredients on the back, as oil is contained in other ingredients, such as glycerin. It's also good to avoid touching your lashes since we naturally produce oils. Some people have more oily skin than others so it's crucial to follow aftercare to keep the adhesive strong! 

SWEAT/HUMIDITY

Gym goers/runners/etc! The salt in our sweat [as well as our tears] breaks down the adhesive just like oils do. After your workout/tear session cleanse those lashes to prevent premature shedding! Humidity is not our lashes' friend either; so saunas are a no-go. As far as vacationing, the elevation in humidity will play a role in your retention, plan on scheduling your fill when you get back!

BRUSH DAILY

This may seem like a no-brainer, but brushing your lashes on a daily basis can be one of the easiest ways to make sure your lashes last. By brushing daily, you not only ensure that your lashes look their best, but it stimulates new lash growth. Can you comb too much? Yes, yes you can. Try to only brush them once or twice a day. I know it’s fun.

WASH, WASH, WASH

Natural oils, debris, skin shedding, makeup, all of these will get trapped in your lash line and affect your lash retention. If you do neglect cleaning your lashes, it can very likely lead to some gross outcomes.

An extension safe foam cleanser and a fluffy soft eyeshadow brush will be your best friend. ONLY use outward/downward motions and rinse very very well. NEVER BRUSH YOUR LASHES WET.

NEVER USE MASCARA. If you feel like you need to swipe just a little bit to get you to your next fill....you are waiting too long in between your fills! Mascara is all oil. Even applying it for ONE day will forever close your fans up and begin breaking down the glue. Would you quickly dip your perfectly painted nail in acetone??

If you decide you’d like a tighter curl, set down that lash curler. This can be adjusted at your next appointment.

SLEEPING HABITS

Side sleepers can make outer lashes fall off sooner than later.

Get a satin/silk pillowcase! Hands down, this purchase is so worth it.

HOT, HOT HEAT!

This is an important one, especially in the summer months. With all the fun activities out in the sun during the day and campfires at night, there's a lot of heat going around. And with all this heat can lead to your lashes being singed.

So don't get too close to anything with a lot of heat (campfires, steam rooms, ovens, taking the lid off of a pot, and even in rare cases, HAIR DRYERS. Volume lashes are especially susceptible to being singed since they are much thinner.

Once your lashes are exposed to this kind of heat, there's no amount of combing or magic that's going to fix it. You will have to get a removal and new set! *cue tears*

SAY GOODBYE TO...

• Eyelash curlers- These can permanently kink the extensions and break your natural lash where the adhesive is applied.

• Strip lashes- Just no. That stretchy DUO glue will yank those lashes off and I guarantee you will come to your next appointment with leftover gooey glue in the roots of your lashes, making for an unhappy lash artist. And again, this will require a removal and new set!
